Bonaparte and his military school in Brienne

Bonaparte was a pupil from 1779 (  he was then ten years old)  to 1784 of the Royal military school of Brienne le Château. In April 1805, Bonaparte as Napoleon, Emperor of the French stopped in Brienne on his way to Milan to put the king crown of Italy.
He came back to Brienne at the end of January 1814 after the disaster of Leipzig, Napoleon attacked the two main armies of allied armies in the afternoon of January 29th and Brienne was partially destroyed. 
An other fight occured on the 1st February at "La Rothière". After facing 10 000 allies a whole day long, the French retired to Troes before the victories of Champaubert, Montmirail, Vauchamps, Montereau, Reims.

Bonaparte fut élève de l'Ecole royale militaire de Brienne de 1779 à 1784, âgé de 10 à 15 ans.
 Devenu Napoléon, Empereur des Français, Il s'arrêta en avril 1805 à Brienne en chemin vers Milan où il devait recevoir la couronne de Roi d'Italie.
Il revint en janvier 1814 à Brienne après le désastre de Leipzig. A la tête d'une petire armée il affronta les deux armées principales des Alliés qui tentaient de se rejoindre sur la plaine de Brienne l'après-midi du 29 janvier. Brienne fut partiellement détruit.
Une autre bataille eut lieu à quelques kilomètres à "La Rothière". Après avoir affronté toute la journée 10 000 alliés, les Français se retirèrent à Troyes avant de remporter les victoires de Champaubert, Montmirail, Vauchamps, Montereau, Reims.
